How to adjust the proposed strategy

If you want to test whether you're capable of completing a target effort in advance, it's best to do it on a gentle climb, a safe flat road (preferably with a headwind), or a trainer. What matters is maintaining the target power and duration - gradient, distance, and speed are irrelevant.

You probably won't be able to go full gas in training, so try riding at 80-90% of your target power, and check whether your heart rate reaches 80-90% of your max. If it doesn't, adjust your target power.

For example, if you ride at 90% of the planned power and your heart rate only reaches 80% of HRmax, then your target power is likely too low. You can correct it by multiplying the planned power by 9/8.
