BGRASS-Lでのピート・ワーニック氏のメールによると、チャールズ・ソーテル氏が ２０日の晩（米国時間）にカリフォルニア州パサデナ郊外の病院で亡くなりました。

氏は５年前から白血病を患い、２年前に骨髄移植を受けました。一時は回復し、 最近まで演奏やワークショップを行なっていたようですが、（おそらく）先月から 容態が悪化し、入院していました。３月初めに危篤状態になってから意識を取り戻す ことはありませんでした。免疫抑制の治療を受けていたためにひどい感染症に かかって体力を落としてしまったのでしょう。

ホット・ライズもトレイルブレイザーズも伝説のバンドになってしまいました。 ご冥福を祈ります。
